Have you ever stopped to think about your life identity?

We all have a ‘life identity’, even if it’s something we rarely think about.

It’s the way we present ourselves every day, often unconsciously. From the clothes we wear to the way we interact with others, these small choices create a picture of who we are.

But here’s the thing: if we don’t define our identity intentionally, others will do it for us. We’ll get pigeonholed, boxed in by assumptions that don’t truly reflect our values or aspirations.

Just like a brand has a logo, colour palette, and message, your life identity has its own “design.” It’s in the way you show up in small, everyday moments—whether it’s the way you say no, the energy you bring to your relationships, or the passions you pursue.

So, what’s your life identity?

Is it already aligned with who you want to be, or is it time for an upgrade? The smallest shifts in how you show up can create powerful ripples.

I challenge you to consider one tiny tweak you could make today.

Taking it a step further, this question isn’t just about personal growth - it’s deeply connected to how we engage with the world around us. In fact, for small business owners in the wellness and creative industries, their life identity often becomes the foundation of their brand.

As both a designer and a coach, I’m fascinated by how personal identity and brand identity intersect. The more my clients allow themselves to show up fully in their businesses - letting all aspects of who they are be seen - the more deeply they connect with their ideal clients.

Your life identity isn’t separate from your business.

Even if you don’t run a business, there’s so much to learn from this idea. If you do, give yourself permission to let your true self shine through in all that you do.

Of course, we all need boundaries and clarity on what we choose to share (you can absolutely keep certain things private), but don’t be afraid to let the quirky human bits be seen. Whether it’s in your services, on your blog, through social media, or in your podcasts… allow your life identity to infuse every interaction and conversation.

When you give yourself this permission, you also encourage others to do the same. The more we allow ourselves to be seen, the more we create space for others to be fully themselves, too. It’s a win all-round.

Oh, and don’t forget to celebrate the bloopers too. It normalises failure and gives us more courage to be all of ourselves… and everyone loves a good blooper reel 😉
